Andrew Posted February 7 Share Posted February 7 In an effort to help me track down what jobs I need and want to do on my current steed I figured writing a list on here would help me. So I suppose its a project list..... Replace rocker cover gasket Parts received, awaiting time to fit. Remove Vanos solenoids to clean filters and install new O rings Parts received, awaiting time to fit and hopefully done at same time as rocker cover gasket. Fit new rear brakes, discs (original) and pads. Parts received, awaiting time to fit Replace gearbox rear mount New rubber mount bought for £11 Clean and lubricate earth wire fixings, preventative maintenance Service autobox, new fluid and filter, Service kit purchase for ~£180 Replace diff output seals, replace wheel bearings at same time as driveshafts need to come out. Replace diff bushes Parts received, awaiting time to fit Replace rear prop giubo Replace rear ball joint and integral link Parts received, awaiting time to fit Fettle up rust on front anti-roll bar Replace Inlet manifold seals, not attempted when changing oil filter housing gaskets. Replace throttle body O ring. Wheel refurb Will delay until when rear tyres need changing Monitoring Replace battery, it's the original and a recent test says it needs replacing Recent test 23/08/2024 say battery o.k. still starts on the button and S/S works. Monitoring Investigate and fix water leak in boot, made my parking brake fail from water ingress. No leaks found, boot stripped out and talc powder dusted to help trace leak. Nothing, presume I have inadvertently resealed the leak with moving trim and thus the disturbing the seals. Still no source of or repeat leak identified 23/08/2024 DONE Replace electric water pump, thermostat and temp sensor. Pierburg pump installed. DONE Replace thermostat, heater not as hot as I think it should be on a cold day Mahle 'stat installed with water pump. DONE Replace top and bottom radiator hoses. Gates hoses installed, top and bottom radiator hoses plus thermostat to pump hose DONE Replace battery negative lead, clamp broke, temp cable made with IBS out of circuit, no stop/start as a result. Replacement used cable bought for £15 from a breaker in Fife. Worked like a charm. £231 for a genuine one! DONE New front summer tyres, cracked due to age (7 years old) Two new Michelin Primacy 3 fitted and full four wheel alignment. Adjustment to N/S/F track rod end to bring back to spec. DONE Fix wobbly O/S wing mirror/glass. Fitted replacement glass from Amazon. Mirror had become unstuck from backing plate. DONE Replace grubby interior drivers door handle Wasn't too bad a job which I was dreading for fear of breaking parts. DONE Replace rear hub nuts 36mm 12 point impact socket on my Dewalt got the old ones off. DONE Clean drivers seat leather. Cleaned with Gliptone and then nourished with Gliptone. DONE Replace ignition coils when carrying out next spark plug service. Fitted during recent major service when swapping out spark plugs DONE Replace O ring on Oil level sensor Noticed it sweating when poking around doing the water pump. DONE Strip out gearbox underbelly and replace fixings which will be corroded. DONE Strip out underbelly brackets either side of gearbox to ensure access can be gained to gearbox fill plug. Andrew Posted August 9 Author Share Posted August 9 Electric Water pump started to fail on me and gave me overheat warnings momentarily before I could park up safely.
